A little corner of the countryside, made for slowing down. There is a certain magic to Cleve Farm.
Tucked away in the rolling landscape of the Blackdown Hills, the cottages sit quietly within the farm, surrounded by open skies, green fields, beautiful walks and the gentle rhythm of the countryside.
Days seem to unfold a little differently here. Mornings arrive softly, afternoons linger, and evenings settle into a peaceful stillness as the light fades across the hills.
The coast and heritage of Somerset, Devon and Dorset are within easy reach. Yet it is the feeling of returning to the farm at the end of your day that stays with you — the warmth of the cottage, the quiet around you, and that rare sense of having truly escaped.
Nothing hurried, nothing complicated. Just beautiful surroundings, a little space to breathe, and time to relax.

The Byre
Our newest cottage, converted in 2024 with the same attention to detail that has made our first cottage (The Stables) such a success. The Byre brings a slightly more contemporary feel to Cleve Farm, while keeping the same peace, privacy and views across the Blackdowns.

The Stables
Converted from a set of stables in parts dating back a couple of centuries, The Stables pairs old stone and high beamed ceilings with the comfort of modern facilities — underfloor heating throughout, a well-equipped kitchen, and a king-size bed beneath the original stable roofline.

The Farm & Around
Remote, but never far from anywhere.
Set within 24 acres of peaceful countryside in the beautiful Blackdown Hills, Cleve Farm is a tranquil rural place. The village of Churchinford is just 1.8 miles away, while the market towns of Taunton, Wellington and Honiton are around 10 miles from the farm. With Junction 25 of the M5 approximately 20 minutes away and the A303 around 12 minutes by car, Cleve Farm is wonderfully quiet yet ideally placed for exploring Somerset, Dorset and Devon.
To do nearby
Step straight from the farm into the surrounding countryside, with quiet lanes, woodland and open hills to discover on foot. Explore the Blackdown Hills by bike or on horseback, or enjoy a game of tennis in Hemyock. From beaches and historic towns to the many attractions of Somerset, Devon and Dorset, there are plenty of memorable days out within easy reach.
Where to eat and shop
Enjoy a warm welcome at country pubs in nearby Bishopswood, Churchinford, Clayhidon, Culmstock and Dunkeswell. For a broader choice of restaurants, cafés and pubs, Taunton, Wellington and Honiton are all within easy reach. Churchinford and Hemyock village shops offer local produce and everyday essentials, while major supermarkets and organic suppliers can deliver groceries directly to the farm, making your stay as convenient as it is peaceful.
Our Story
A dream come true
Our story began at Exeter University, where two cultures merged. In the years that followed came marriage, two wonderful children, and grandchildren — while, quietly in our hearts, a dream took shape: To find a home in the countryside.
In 2009, that dream brought us to Cleve Farm.
Tucked away along a quiet lane in the Blackdown Hills of Somerset, surrounded by woodland and rolling fields, we felt something quite unexpected — a sense of belonging, and a deep love for the beauty of this place.
There is a gentle rhythm to life here — the changing light of dawn filtering through the trees, the sounds of nature all around, and the quiet stillness of dusk. A place to pause, breathe, and savour the simple beauty of country life.
After so many years of loving this very special place, we are delighted to share it with you — our little corner of Somerset, and the home of our dreams.
